When electromagnet is excited [3], the armature plate [4] is attracted towards it, loading the torque springs [6].
The braking disk [5], coupled to the drive shaft [2], is then free to
turn around. When current is absent there’s no electromagnetic field, springs pushing the armature plate against the braking disk braking the drive shaft.
Adjustment of braking torque is obtained by acting on the yellow screws [7].
